  • KLD Law offers wills and estates planning in both Manitoba and Ontario. We are mindful that estate planning can be a stressful task, this is why with KLD Law we do everything we can to make the process as comfortable as possible while providing you with a tailored estate planning including:

    • Free initial consultations to outline the process and determine cost before work begins,

    • Transparent fee structures, and estate planning packages priced at a flat rate,

    • Meetings conducted at client’s home (or wherever they are most comfortable),

    • Emergency estate planning services (KLD Law will do their best to assist based on the lawyer’s location and availability at the time of call),

    • Virtual services available if in-person meetings are not possible due to medical conditions or remote locations,

    • Packages available for completion of Will, Power of Attorney, and Health Care Directives together or individually.

  • KLD Law offers a variety of Indigenous legal services tailored specifically for each Indigenous client, be it a First Nation, an individual, or an Indigenous business:

    • Specific Claims - The Specific Claims Tribunal provides an alternative route for First Nations making claims regarding the administration of land, other assets, and the fulfillment of treaties. If the claim meets the tribunals requirements, then the process allows claims to be heard by a specialized panel.

    • Inherent and Treaty Rights - Indigenous peoples and First Nations across Canada still face challenges in asserting their rights, our team can assist clients in determining the best options available to them.

    • First Nations Self-Governance - There are many agreements and legislative powers that allow First Nations to govern their people. Whether that means needing a legal opinion on existing self-governance structures or assistance drafting and creating self-governance policies we are here for you at any step.

    • First Nations Elections - There are several ways that First Nations elect their chief and council. Each system can result in the need for legal advice throughout the election process. We are able to assist First Nations and members at any stage whether that means assistance in drafting or amending election regulations, legal opinions and interpretation of existing codes, or challenges/responses to challenges of the elections.
